New Richmond High School Seeking Teams for Tournament Jan. 8, 2011

New Richmond wants to add teams from Minnesota and/or Wisconsin to our annual wrestling invitational, being held this year on Saturday, January 8, 2011. New Richmond is located approximately 35 minutes East of St. Paul, and approximately 50 minutes Northwest of Eau Claire, in western Wisconsin. We are moving into a brand new high school this year with a larger gymnasium and better facilities. We would like to double our current eight-team tournament. Last year, the teams that participated were Clear Lake, Luck/Frederick/Grantsburg, New Richmond, Osceola, Spooner, Saint Croix Central, and Unity. Somerset will be a new team this coming year. Our intention is to continue to support a tournament format that gives every wrestler the maximum five matches per day if possible. In the past, we have filled in any open spots in the tournament with junior varsity wrestlers.  There are team trophies for first and second place, individual medals at each weight class, as well as a completed bracket for individual champions, and an award for the most outstanding wrestler, voted on by the head coaches.

If your team has interest or questions regarding the tournament, please contact Mark Neumann, Head Coach, New Richmond Wrestling. Phone: 715-243-1286 or Email: MARKN@newrichmond.k12.wi.us
