NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships - Team Advance Tickets
It's hard to believe, but it's already time to start thinking about the
NCAA Division III National Wrestling Championships being held on March
7-8, 2008
in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The NCAA Division III Wrestling committee has
decided to implement a new ticket policy this year which is designed to
better accommodate parents and fans. This year they are offering each
NCAA Division III wrestling program the opportunity to purchase
all-session reserved seat tickets at a cost of $45 each in advance of
general ticket sales. These reserved seats will be in a prime location
and will be grouped together.
As a program, UW-La Crosse has until February 1, 2008 to reserve an
unlimited number of all-session reserved tickets. If you are interested,
please let me know how many tickets you'd like to purchase. Note that
these tickets must be prepaid, so Coach Malecek will put the order on
his credit card. However, he would appreciate it if you would send him a
check as soon as possible thereafter to cover the cost of your tickets.
Since Coach Malecek and the team will be at the Pete Willson
Invitational on February 1, he will need to get UWL's order in prior to
that. He has asked me to coordinate the order. Therefore, please get
back to me no later than Wednesday, January 30, if you are interested in
purchasing advance tickets.
As in the past, we're hoping for a great showing of support for the
team.
Note that if you miss this opportunity, general admission tickets will
go on sale on Wednesday, February 6.
Please feel free to call Coach Malecek at 608-785-8184 or e-mail him at
malecek.davi@uwlax.edu
if you have any questions. All checks should be mailed to him at 215
Mitchell Hall, La Crosse, WI 54601.
Go Eagles!!!
UW La Crosse Coach
lives for family, wrestling
Coach lives for family, wrestling

Dave Malecek will be smiling at the National Duals this weekend for
reasons other than just his Wisconsin-La Crosse team being one of the
top teams in the NCAA Division III tournament.
The coach has plenty to smile about already, with the third-ranked
Eagles owning a 14-0 record. They finished 18th at the Midlands last
month, which was better than seven NCAA Division I programs.
Malecek, a two-time state champion at Osage and an all-American at
Northern Iowa, is thrilled to be in his element.

"This is my hobby, this is my passion," said Malecek, who is in his
second season at La Crosse. "I don't have any other hobbies. I have my
family and then wrestling. In my free time, I want to be around
wrestling. I've traveled all over the United States because of
wrestling. I'd never be able to do that, coming from a family that
didn't have the money to send me places."
Malecek took his zest for competition into the coaching world after
graduating from Northern Iowa. He was a high school head coach at
Alta-Aurelia and Cedar Rapids Regis-LaSalle in Cedar Rapids - now Cedar
Rapids Xavier - and then was an assistant at Wartburg before going to La
Crosse.
"I worked with one of the best coaches in the United States in
(Wartburg's) Jim Miller," Malecek said. "In the same sense, I felt that
I learned so much from him and had done as much as I could as an
assistant that it was time for me to run my own program.
"I've never looked back once."
Can the Eagles break the Wartburg-or-Augsburg lock on the Division III
championship?
"I think we're taking the right steps," Malecek said. "It's going to
take us a while obviously. I didn't go to La Crosse to finish third,
fourth, fifth and all that."
With as much time spent in wrestling, Malecek calls his wife, Kayahbah,
a special partner.
"She is an angel sent to me," said Malecek, a father of triplet
daughters with a fourth child due in August. "I am truly blessed."

UWL Family
and Fans:
Just a quick update from this past weekend. UWL finished 4-0 at the
Olivet duals and I have attached the web site with all the results.
http://www.olivetcollege.edu/athletics/mwrestling/07duals/match_schedule.htm
I was proud of how our guys wrestled and it was a good performance for
this early in the year. We have a long ways to go but I like the
attitude of the guys and they are working hard towards our goals. Olivet
is rated #3, Baldwin Wallace #17, Ohio Northern #25. We also had 3 guys
compete at the Augsburg Open and Sr. Eric Seppelt 149 finished 8th,
Freshman Nate Wilaert 157# finished 5th and Mitch Brekke did not place.
I wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving. Our next competition is
Thursday Nov. 29th at 7pm vs. Platteville at home so hope to see you at
the meet. Go Eagles. Fire It Up!!!

UWL Wrestling Family and Friends:
Just wanted to give you some updates as we start another year at UWL and
UWL Wrestling. Classes start next Tuesday and I am excited to have
everyone back on campus. We had a good recruiting year and brought in
some good kids that will make our program better along with that we have
a good group coming back. We also had 12 guys stay this summer and
workout and work in the community along with that we also had over 25
guys at each camp working out and getting better. Each camp was a week
long and they made big strides during that time.
A quick update on our seniors from last year:
1. Scott Dorn works for Leedom Finanical in Sarasota, Fl
2. Ross Needham, 8th grade teacher and head wrestling coach at Holmen
High School, Holmen, Wi
3. Jason Lulloff is on our coaching staff and student teaching in the
area
4. Jake Larsen is teaching PE and head coach at Sparta, Wi
5. Jim Swanson is finishing up his degree and student teaching
6. Josh Passe is finishing up his degree and helping us coach
Corey Day who was an asst. for us last year is also teaching PE and
coaching at Boyceville, Wi
I will be sending out email throughout the year and feel free to forward
this to anyone that is interested or if you want off the list, just let
me know. We have our gear order forms available and I have attached it
to this email. The orders are earlier this year and so we hope to have
the gear to you by the end of Oct.
Take care and Go Eagles!!!
